What is the Arkansas Literacy Tutoring Grant and how do you get it?
The Arkansas Literacy Tutoring Grant gives families up to $500 to help their child get extra reading support. You can use it to pay for 1-on-1 tutoring from trusted, approved providers like Tutored by Teachers (TbT).
If your child qualifies, your school will send you a letter with all the details. Use that letter to fill out a short online application.
If you’ve already applied and been approved, you can log in to ClassWallet now to access and use your funds.
If you’re eligible but haven’t applied yet, complete this quick application. Once approved (usually within 14 days), you’ll be able to log in and choose your tutoring provider.
Important: All funds must be used by June 30, 2025, so don’t wait to get started!
Is my family eligible to receive the Arkansas Literacy Tutoring Grant?
Your child may be eligible if they (1) attend an Arkansas public or charter school, (2) were in kindergarten through 3rd grade during the 2024–25 school year, and (3) will enter 1st through 4th grade in school year 2025–26.
Students qualify if they:
- Scored below the reading standard on state testing,
- Are at risk for reading difficulties, or
- Were held back in 3rd grade (or promoted with a special exemption)
If your child qualifies, your school will send you a letter letting you know. Not sure if you’re eligible? Reach out to your school or email [email protected] to ask.
When are bootcamps available?
Choose from one of two virtual bootcamps to help your child boost their reading skills:
- Bootcamp 1: Monday, June 9 – Friday, June 20
- Bootcamp 2: Monday, June 16 – Friday, June 27
Each bootcamp includes ten 30-minute 1-on-1 sessions, held once a day over two weeks.
You can choose the time that works best for your family – mornings, afternoons, or early evenings.
Who are the tutors?
All of our tutors are certified classroom teachers. They’re experienced, patient, and know how to make learning stick.
What if my child has special learning needs?
Many of our teachers are certified in Special Education or EL. Whether your child has an IEP, learning differences, or speaks a different language at home, we’ve got the right support for them.
How do I pay?
After signing up with TbT, please upload your invoice to ClassWallet by:
- Logging into your ClassWallet account
- Navigating to “Pay Vendor”
- Searching for Tutored by Teachers
- Uploading your invoice
Once funds are received (typically within 2–3 business days), your tutoring will be scheduled.
